A veteran-owned performance shop in Leander, TX — started in the middle of a pandemic by three guys who'd rather wrench on race cars than work for someone else.
From Three Mechanics To A Race Team.
HD Motorsports was founded in 2020 by Todd “Therk” Therkildsen, Michael Ehrhardt, and David Gray — opening their doors in the middle of the pandemic with Todd and two other mechanics. Todd brought a deep auto industry resume with him, including time as a NASCAR and drag racing mechanic, plus a stint in the U.S. Army as a mechanic.
As Todd has put it: “we're a speed shop with a race team.” HD works on everything from classic muscle cars and supercars to overland rigs and weekend track toys, and supports its customers' cars trackside on race weekends around Texas.
We all grew up in love with the power and feel of vehicles — don't hesitate to ask about our favorites, but you might be sticking around for a while. We're passionate about cars, and we bring that passion to the work we do. Our technicians are professional, knowledgeable, and careful. We'll send you home driving your car in better condition than when it arrived.

Customer race cars share the bay right alongside daily drivers and weekend toys. HD preps cars for wheel-to-wheel competition, supports them trackside on race weekends, and gets them back on the lift the second they roll off the trailer.
